Life before, during, and after the military can range from incredible to traumatic.

Discharging from the military creates a whole new set of potential feelings, questions, thoughts, and emotions.

As with every change in life, you are about to embark on a new adventure; so strap into that open seat on your new rollercoaster, get ready and hang on. Your journey will be filled with twists and turns of excitement and joy; but you may also find yourself experiencing the feelings of anxiety, isolation, loneliness, and at times, invisibility.

Often, especially during the time of separation, others who have ridden this rollercoaster, have found themselves feeling stuck inbetween a life they've become accustomed to and thrust into one where they may feel misunderstood, estranged and barely recognizable. Many have found this true even if they previously lived in civilian society before joining their loved one while they served in the military.

Also, as you've done throughout your life, you will again often hold the position of the fulcrum; "the support, or point of rest... a prop or support" for everyone and everything around you (Dictionary.com, 2024).

You may be the strength that keeps life in balance. Hold steadfast...

This toolkit was designed for those who are within one year of transitioning out of the military, up to 12 months before and 12 months after discharge. However, we are welcoming everyone who has ever held the role of a spouse/partner to a service member/Veteran because your insight and expertise can offer invaluable input; helping those who may feel stuck inbetween or clenching their safety bar rather than enjoying the ride.

We want you to know:

You Are Seen...

The vital fulcrum of everything inBetween.

Feel Free To Look Around

Know you are capable of doing anything...

Believe in Yourself 2.png

All of this is not possible without you and we your help!

Please help evaluate this MySTART Toolkit by taking both a pre-survey (before perusing this website) as well as

a post-survey (after you have had a chance to look around). Your participation and feedback are vital, and greatly contribute to what can be done for spouses and partner of military and Veteran families in the future. You can return to the MySTART Toolkit by exiting out of the survey's. Thank you tremendously for us the privilege of hearing your voice.
